The following pages reveal the real life story of a 19th-century immigrant American, John Taylor, native of Scotland, while also unveiling the relationships of people close to him. No previous endeavor, to my knowledge, has ever been undertaken to assemble such an extensive biography of this one specific singular person. An attempt is made with this detailed writing to realistically depict events in the geographic areas touching his life, and to demonstrate a portion of what happened during his lifetime. The written compilation, with names of my own ancestors represented in upper-case text, was created as a preservation of accumulated genealogical research for the perusal of interested Taylor descendants. This thoroughly descriptive literary work consolidates information infused from a vast variety of sources, and is constructively pieced together and blended in this historical narrative for the reader's ease of comprehension. In some cases, personal thoughts and emotions of yesteryear's participants obviously cannot be substantiated with absolute certainty today. Within the limits imposed by that void, a framework of common fact disdaining obtrusive fabrication is therefore interlaced with plausible details to provide the clearest picture of how fate's capriciousness directed these selected individuals through their passages of life. Normal characterizations of expected human feelings and actions are carefully incorporated with the sincere belief that the descriptions tendered most accurately portray what actually occurred. This treatment will be quite evident. A few anecdotal descriptions are written here using tales as they were imparted to me, without any comment on their veracity. These specific items are easily perceived as being innocuously introduced for any entertainment value they may possess.
