Erastus Conrad Swingle

Born:  12 Apr 1831, So. Canaan, Wayne Co. PA
Died:  7 Jun 1895, So. Canaan, Wayne Co. PA
Burial:  Bible Protestant Cemetery, So. Canaan
Parents:  John Swingle 2nd (1794-1879) & Mary "Polly" Quick (1806-?)
GrParents:  Conrad Swingle (1769-1849) & Lucy "Sally" Bunting (1776-1850)

In 1870 Erastus was a carpenter living in So. Canaan.  He spent his entire life there with the exception of five years that he followed contracting in New York State.  He taught school in early life, conducted a mercantile store in So. Canaan, and filled the office of Justice of the Peace for many years.  In later years he spent his time farming.  He was one of the leading citizens in the community.  Source:  Commemorative Biographical Record, pg. 139
