Alva L. Shaffer

Al Shaffer died at 1:25 o'clock Sunday morning at a Lincoln hospital at the advanced age of 78 years. Mr. Shaffer was born in Penn. and came to Nebr. with his parents in 1867, settling near Humboldt. In 1882 he married Josephine Marshall near DuBois, where they lived until 1914, when they moved to Lincoln. He is survived by his wife and 2 daughters, Mrs. Letha Philpot of Roca and Mrs. Vera Pierce of Lincoln, 2 sons Ralph of Grand Island and Wincel of Lincoln. Nine grandchildren. He is also survived by a cousin Mrs. M. W. Harding of Humboldt.
Funeral Services were held at 9 a. m. Tues. morning at Poteet-Colman Chapel with Rev. W. L. Ruyle officiating.
Burial was in Humboldt cemetery with short services at graveside conducted by Rev. D. Borgaard pastor of the Christian Church.
