John Whaley, my great, great, great-grandfather is buried in the cemetary west of town near the southeast corner. He served on the Grand Republican Army in Company K, 16th Michigan Infantry. John Whaley's daughter, Laura Jane Whaley is my great, great-grandmother. Laura Jane Whaley had several sisters and brothers, all raised in Pawnee City. Laura Jane Whaley married Lewis (Louis) DeCoudres September 2, 1865, and they had 10 children. Louis was the Pawnee County Clerk for for 10 years around 1884. One of their daughters, Alma Grace DeCoudres, born in Pawnee City, Nebraska, on September 16, 1882. Alma Grace is my great-grandmother. Alma Grace DeCoudres married Cyrus Norton in 1909 and had six children. One of the children, Nina Laura Norton, born October 26, 1918, in Los Angeles, California, is my grandmother.
